Barnet from Above: The story of Aerofilm Ltd and its aerial photographs of Barnet
Hugh Petrie
7.30 pm Thursday 30 April at Avenue House
Aerofilms Ltd was the UK’s first commercial aerial photography company. It was founded in Colindale in 1919 by Francis Wills and Claude Graham White. Barnet’s Local Studies has hundreds of aerial photographs of Finchley, and this talk by Hugh Petrie promises to be a fascinating continuation of the presentations he has given to the Society in recent years
Hugh Petrie was brought up in Finchley, where he still lives with his wife and family. He went to Christ’s College and graduated in history from the University of Northumberland and Essex University. He has written a number of local histories, and has been Heritage Development Officer for Barnet for 20 years.
The meeting will take place in Avenue House, located at Stephens House and Gardens, 17 East End Road, Finchley N3 3QE. It will begin at 7.30 pm.
Non-members are welcome, but are asked to make a donation (in cash) of £2 towards the cost of the meeting.
