Carol Harris presented the 2020 Jean Scott Memorial Lecture at 7.15 pm on Thursday October 29. She discussed wartime fashions, illustrating her talk with clothing, accessories and other artifacts from the period.

Carol is a freelance journalist, speaker and social historian. She is currently Social History Editor at Coram, the UK’s oldest children’s charity, and a volunteer at the Imperial War Museum. Her television credits include BBC’s Timewatch and Woman’s Hour. Carol has written and co-written 16 books, on topics that include women’s history, the two world wars of the twentieth century, and the history of fashion. Her latest book is a new and expanded edition of Blitz Diary, co-written with her husband, the author and speaker Mike Brown.
