An alternative
King’s Cross
Chris Foster
Thursday 28 April
7.30 pm
at Stephens House and Online

Chris Foster showed us an alternative King’s Cross, taking us on an illustrated meander through the lesser-known Dickensian back  streets of King’s. Chris is now a Camden Tour Guide, but fifty years ago was a Bobby on the Beat in the same area.

Chris’s presentation started at Kings Cross Station and the new development to the north. His old Beat was south of the Euston Road, and so he took us through its old streets and alleyways, which have seen little change in the past two or three hundred years. Chris discussed the history of the area, mixed in with stories from his time as a Bobby, and concluded with a look at how King’s Cross has changed in the past fifty years.

Stephens House: The meeting took place at Stephens (Avenue) House, 17 East End Road, Finchley N3 3QE. It will begin at 7.30 pm.

Online: The meeting also took place via Zoom. If you would like more information about our online meetings but are not a Member of the Finchley Society, please email us at zoom@finchleysociety.org.uk.
