Gardening the World
Tim Bell

Thursday 29 September
7:30 pm … online and
at Stephens House

Following his excellent presentation earlier in the year, Tim Bell will be giving us a further talk on behalf of the Commonwealth War Graves Commission (CWGC) entitled ‘Gardening the World’. With gardeners and horticultural experts working in more than 150 countries and territories, the CWGC is one of the world’s leading horticultural organisations with an enviable track record of innovation and expertise. Tim is returning to explain about the work of those who maintain the cemeteries and how they determine what plants should be used in different countries throughout the world.

A resident of Finchley, Tim is a volunteer speaker with the CWGC. He volunteers so that the general public can learn more about the Commission, and hopefully engage with its efforts to broaden understanding and help perpetuate the memory of the men and women who sacrificed their lives in the two world wars. You can find out more about the Commonwealth War Graves Commission and the Commonwealth War Graves Foundation here  and here.

Stephens House: The meeting will take place at Stephens (Avenue) House, 17 East End Road, Finchley N3 3QE. It will begin at 7.30 pm.

Online: The meeting will also take place via Zoom. If you would like more information about our online meetings but are not a Member of the Finchley Society, please email us at zoom@finchleysociety.org.uk.

Note: You will find an internet calendar (ics) file here. You can use this file to add the September 29 meeting to your online calendar.
