A New List
Our archives team have added a new list to those posted on our web site. Originally an index to items about people of note for whom the Society held information, the list now endeavours to list all those of note, or notoriety, with a connection to Finchley or Friern Barnet.
The Society welcomes suggestions for new people to be added to the list, or additional information about people already on the list (or references to sources of information about them). The list can be found at here and suggestions should be sent by email to firstname.lastname@example.org
It may be noted that many people are buried here simply because some London Boroughs chose to solve their problem of lack of space for burials by having cemeteries (designed by Barnett & Birch) built in Finchley. As a result, people who died in Marylebone, Camden/St Pancras/Islington after 1853/4 are often buried in Finchley.
