Don’t Lose your Way – The Campaign to Save our Footpaths
Roger Chapman
8 p.m. Thursday
26 April

1 January 2026 is the cut-off date for adding historic paths to what is known as the definitive map – the official record of the public’s rights of way in an area. When a path is on this map, it not only means we have a right to walk on it, but it is much easier to protect and maintain. Any path that came into existence before 1949 and that has not been proposed for the definitive map by 2026 will be lost forever.

Roger Chapman described the work currently underway by the Ramblers Association and local Societies to ensure that all our favourite historic paths in Finchley are on the definitive map. Roger is a Finchley Society member and a keen local archaeologist.

The meeting took place at Avenue House, located in Stephens House and Gardens, 17 East End Road, Finchley N3 3QE
