1971 Newsletters
February The first newsletter when we were briefly called The Finchley Historical Society. A letter from Sir John Betjeman
March Buildings of Special Interest, Appeals for help
April Our members compile their list of buildings worthy of preservation. We are now known as The Finchley Society.
May We start to monitor planning applications and collect archive material.
June We prepare for an exhibition at Finchley Carnival and our membership totals sixty.
September Membership increases to 100 and subscriptions rates increase to 50p per year. Our first committee is elected and we start a survey of Finchley's buildings.
October Spike Milligan is our President with Sir John Betjeman appointed Patron. A letter from Spike.
