Air qualityAir Quality in Barnet: The Results

In June, the Finchley Society helped Mapping for Change (a not-for-profit organisation based at University College London) to install “Diffusion Tubes” to monitor air quality in Barnet. Members of the Society, led by Derek Warren, installed tubes in Dollis Hill, Mill Hill and North Finchley.

Diffusion tubes measure the level of nitrogen oxides, a simple but important measure of air pollution. The tubes remain in place for a month and are then taken down and sent for analysis.

The analysis is complete and the results have been loaded on the London Air Quality Map. Mill Hill is worse than the other two areas but all three have some problems. You can see the results here.
